standing on top of a lonely hill, with faded prayer flags
fluttering, and old prayer wheels humming as they turn, is a
riveting image, and mountains, painted in green and purple,
orange and gold, soar into an azure sky that is startlingly
intense in its clarity.
Ladakh has been
given sobriquets by handful: vivid, beautiful, unbelievable,
moon land, little Tibet, the land of passes... But nothing quite
prepares the traveller for the ethereal yet harsh beauty of
Ladakh....
